But we first came across this act at Flame Con and haven’t stopped laughing since. We’ve been fortunate in the intervening months to develop a rapport with the Planet Wongo producers, and have accepted their gracious invitation to kick off our event with a special performance at the Parkside Lounge on East Houston Street.
What makes it special? Couple things. First of all, it’s the night before BoroughCon, that is, Thursday, May 25. This date also happens to be a worldwide (i.e., Earthwide) nerd holiday, Towel Day. It celebrates the life and work of sci-fi humorist Douglas Adams of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy fame. (If you don’t know what towels have to do with Hitchhiker’s Guide, read it. Or watch the movie. Or — the best way to experience it in our considered opinion — binge on the BBC series.) Planet Wongo authors Steve Mackes, Ben Budick and Dave Ogrin are entirely in Adams’s spirit, so this all worked out well.
And selected members of the audience will get free commemorative towels.
The other thing that makes this performance special is the price. Usually, a trip to Planet Wongo costs $45 but, if you’re with us, it’s only $29. To buy your ticket to the May 25 show, click here (and, while you’re at it, buy your BoroughCon ticket too if you haven’t already). If you can’t make it that night but would like to try for another performance (8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays through June 16), click here and enter promo code BCON. You’ll still pay only $29. But no towel for you.
So blast off to Planet Wongo with the BoroughCrew, and join us for a Wongotini at the Wongo Wuau! (21+ please)
