You probably haven’t heard of it, but what promises to be the best zombie film in years will be opening to limited release in the U.S. this weekend. The Girl With All the Gifts is a British fast-zombie (“hungries” — it’s a fungal infection) flick in the tradition of 28 Days Later. But with Glenn Close. The only local theater we could find that’s showing it is Village East Cinema, but some VOD and streaming services will also have it available for home viewing.
In Real Life
Friday night, come out to the Lovecraft Bar — a short walk from Village East if you’re a zombie fan — for the Great Gatsby Cosplay Gala. If you’re a fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald — or Boardwalk Empire, or Titanic, or Smashing Pumpkins’ “Tonight, Tonight” video, now’s your chance to wear that outfit. Organized by BoroughCon’s friends at White Duck Events. Party starts at 7.
Monday night, the party moves up to The Pit Loft on West 29th Street for the interactive comic stylings of Crisis: An Improvised Comic Book. Be there by 8.
We don’t really have to tell you what major franchise movie is coming out next Friday, do we?
WHAT’S NEW AT BOROUGHCON
So we announced Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings), Khary Payton (The Walking Dead) and Johnny Brennan (Family Guy) since our last newsletter. Now you’re the first to know that Jess Harnell (Crash Bandicoot) will be at BoroughCon.
Much, much more to come!
