THIS WEEKEND AT THE MOVIES
By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth, the day has arrived! Marvel’s Doctor Strange is now in theaters. Human Boggle boards Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor star in this big-screen adaptation of the origin of the Master of the Mystic Arts. (PG-13, 3D, IMAX)
And DreamWorks is also releasing Trolls. Don’t say we forgot to mention it. (PG, animated, and cost almost as much to produce as Doctor Strange)
THE WEEKEND IN REAL LIFE
Comics super-scripter Greg Pak will have a signing at Midtown Comics Downtown (the one on Fulton Street) Friday from 7-8 p.m. It’s to promote his John Carpenter-approved mashup of Big Trouble in Little China and Escape From New York.
At 2 p.m. Sunday, the New York Science Fiction and Fantasy Meetup Groupwill be chatting about Ann Leckie’s multi–award-winning space opera Ancillary Justice. It’s her debut novel and the first book in the Imperial Radch trilogy. They’re gathering at the Citigroup Center Atrium, 53rd Street and Lexington Avenue.
Following a fairly uneventful string of workdays, we have a lot to take in starting this coming Friday: another Hollywood tentpole, a Disney XD series premiere, two boutique conventions in and around Nerd York City, but that’s not all. Tell you about it next week!

WHAT’S NEW AT BOROUGHCON
Invitations have gone out to prospective vendors and artists. We’re about a week or so away from rounding out our Cosplay-track guest list and are preparing to make a big announcement. We have a talent agent closing in on some more mainstream names, who will be made known shortly thereafter. Just to be clear: We expect all that to happen before Thanksgiving.
In parallel, we’re increasing our web presence by bringing you more reviews, blog posts and premium content every day. Check back at boroughcon.com every day.
Also, we’ll have more information for you soon about our nascent YouTube channel.
The big news, though, is that we’ll be going live on Indiegogo soon. If you want premium access to BoroughCon, stay tuned. The placeholder page is at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/boroughcon-2017/coming_soon
